By the castle-gate my lady stands,

Viewing broad acres and spreading lands.

Hill and valley and mead and plain

Are all her own, with their wealth of grain.

In the richest of rich robes she is dressed,

A jewel blazes upon her breast;

And her brow is decked with a diadem

That glitters with many a precious gem.

But what to the Lady Wendoline

Rich satin garments or jewels fine?

Or ripening harvests, or spreading lands-

See! she is wringing her milk-white hands!

And her finger is stained with crimson dew

Where the ring with the diamond star cut through.

And a look of pain and wild despair

Rests on the face, so young and fair.

To-morrow will be her bridal day,

And she will barter herself away

For added wealth and a titled name;

'Tis the curse of her station, and whose the blame!

She loathes the man who will call her wife,

And moans o'er her hapless, loveless life.

The joys of wooing she cannot know;

My lord, her father, has willed it so.

She's a piece of merchandise, bought and sold

For name, position, and bags of gold.

But people must wed in their own degree,

Though hearts may break in their agony.

Under the hill, in the castle's shade,

At a cottage door sits an humble maid;

In her cheek the blushes come and go

As she stitches away on a robe like snow;

And she sings aloud in her happiness-

In a joy she cannot hide or repress.

Close at her side her lover stands,

Watching the nimble, sun-browned hands

As they draw the needle to and fro

Through the robe as white as drift of snow.

Both hearts are singing a wordless lay,

For the morrow will be their bridal day.

They have only their hands, their love, their health,

In place of title, position, and wealth.

But which is the rich, and which the poor,

The maid at the gate, or the maid in the door?

I've never participated in festivals like Roskilde. By the time I realised that backpacking and festivals would be fun I felt like I am too old. Now the hippie in me awakes. Is this the year for a festival, for this boho to dance the night away in mud? Any opinions on this?

Stockholm Fashion Week 2011 /Vimmel från Modeveckan!

There is something funny about the fashion world and I experienced this in Stockholm. Streetstyle bloggers...and if you just looked a bit odd or stood out your picture was taken by some bloggers. First I was...OMG...do they really think that I am some kind of celebrity? But then it hit me that I just stood out with my own personal style although it is totally cuckoo sometimes. And this is something I really emphasize - fashion is nothing that should be taken too seriously. It should be fun to dress up and I must add that my own personal style is a mix of everything. I look completely different from day to day. Remember girls how fun it was to dress up when we where kids? Have we lost our fun-loving persons and style somewhere underneath the pile of bills and must- do Post-it notes? It is of course understandable that if you have a work that requires you to dress up in a certain way you do that. But why dress like that on your spare time?

I used to be afraid of what people might think about me and had a very low self-esteem. I still do struggle with this.This also reflected my own personal style. But nowadays, call it breakthrough then, I simply feel free to be me. I've found my hidden cuckoo personality underneath all the insecurity and low self-esteem. Some like my style others don't - it is okay....I might not be a crowd pleaser but this is me =).

Yes I am fan of crazy combinations but as much I love to through something odd on....I appreciate minimalistic style. Is there anything more beautiful than black and white photos. Here you have a preview of one photo shoot done with Janet. Lovely ain't she? And the photographer...respect man. He's a keeper for future projects.

I found this amazing velvet dress in a thrift store and just had to buy it. And inspired by this dress we had a photo shoot and lots of fun. The first time this year that it actually was possible to be outside without freezing to death in a shortsleeve. The whole story can be found here (in finnish)

Sorreey...it has been too long. But I am back and with more inspirational photos and some of them suprise suprise.... in black and white!
Working is taking a lot of my time, unfortunately I cannot reveal any details yet. But soon I will tell you everything.

I usually don't take other photos that fashion related ones, but one night out on the town I wanted to test my ability to capture a rock band performing. And the result you can find here...

I was quite suprised that there are a lot of Finnish design jewellery available at the Design Market. And a lot of them quite alike. However, I don't mind since I love these jewellery and I could buy them all, but since I am actually drowning in accessoaries in my wardrobe I need to carefully pic out my favourites.

What a day, what a market and what a fashion show. After party was on resturant Siltanen and a private tram took the party people there. Well, tired and weary after the day I chose to head home to sleep...which is considered a luxury these days.

Yes, we surely can be proud - Finnish Design rules!! During Helsinki Design Week 26 Aug - 5 Sep, 2010 design professionals and the general public were invited to a week of events centred around the theme of storytelling. Eleven showrooms were opened on the balcony of the Cable Factory during the Helsinki Design Market 28.–29.8.2010. And a marvellous show could be seen later on saturday eve by Creative Space of Madeby. The following designers participated in the fashion show:

Tuesdays' photo shoot with Hanna was fun and even if it was cloudy the outcome was great! Walked along the insanely calm and quiet beach in Lappvik, only few people walked by wondering what we were doing. The outcome of the photo shoot will be seen soon...I promise.. Meanwhile take a look backstage....while the photographer is working and the model doing her thing - I act as DJ, assistant, roadie and backstage photographer.

Last tuesday Jolier, a Finnish design clothes brand was filmed and shot at Merikaapelihalli, Helsinki. I got the chance to assist in both makeup and backstage photography. Amazing crew on site makes work so much easier. I took these pics and love the backstage pulse - excitement, anticipation, action, lots of laughter and fun. But of course we did some work also with a hectic tempo.

I am no photographer. I recently bought my first real camera. I don't know anything about lighting. I shoot what I see, what is beautiful in my eyes and let it be somewhat untouched. Bare with me.
